The iconic acmonital 100 Lire "Minerva" (large type) of the Italian Republic — one of the most recognisable post-war Italian circulation coins. Struck at the Rome Mint from 1955 to 1989.
Obverse: Head of the Italian Republic personified as a woman, wreathed, facing left. Legend REPVBBLICA ITALIANA; designer G. ROMAGNOLI below truncation.
Reverse: Minerva standing left, holding long spear in one hand and reaching toward an olive tree with the other. Value L. 100 at left of tree trunk, mint mark R at right, date in exergue.
