An aluminium 5 Lire of the Italian Republic, struck at the Rome Mint in 1991. Part of the iconic rudder-and-dolphin series that ran from 1951 to 2001 and is fondly remembered by generations of Italians.
Obverse: A rudder, symbolising Italy's seafaring tradition. Legend REPVBBLICA ITALIANA with designer's name ROMAGNOLI. Engraved by Pietro Giampaoli.
Reverse: Denomination 5 to the left of the date, above a leaping dolphin.
