A late-issue aluminium 5 Lire of the Italian Republic, struck at the Rome Mint in 1998 — just three years before the Italian lira was withdrawn from circulation. With a mintage of 1,500,000, this is a scarce final-era example of this beloved series.
Obverse: A rudder. Legend REPVBBLICA ITALIANA with designer's name ROMAGNOLI. Engraved by Pietro Giampaoli.
Reverse: Denomination 5 to the left of the date, above a leaping dolphin.
