A late-issue aluminium 5 Lire of the Italian Republic, struck at the Rome Mint in 1993. With a mintage of only 1,000,000, the 1993 issue is among the scarcer dates in this long-running series and is sought after by collectors.
Obverse: A rudder — symbolising Italy's seafaring heritage. Legend REPVBBLICA ITALIANA with the designer's name ROMAGNOLI. Engraved by Pietro Giampaoli.
Reverse: Denomination 5 to the left of the date, above a leaping dolphin.
