A Bronzital 20 Lire of the Italian Republic, struck at the Rome Mint in 1988. Part of the long-running KM97.2 smooth-edge series introduced after the Bronzital alloy was reformulated in 1967.
Obverse: A female head facing left, her curly hair adorned with wheat sprigs — an allegorical figure representing Italy. Legend REPVBBLICA ITALIANA with engraver's name GIAMPAOLI below. Designed and engraved by Pietro Giampaoli.
Reverse: An oak branch in the centre, with denomination L.20 to the left, mintmark R, and date 1988 to the right.
